About the Industry

Australian Stone Industry

Despite boasting some of the world’s most abundant and high-quality stone resources, particularly in the vast, sparsely populated Pilbara region known for iron ore, Western Australia’s natural stone industry is still in its early stages of development.

As a result, local consumption of stone is heavily reliant on imported products, driving up prices for consumers.

The local industry faces a shortage of advanced manufacturing equipment, processing technologies, and skilled workers.

Australian stone is currently dependent on small quarries supplying metropolitan councils for paving and kerbing projects.

We know it can be so much more. With extensive industry experience and global networks, GTS is committed to growing Australia’s national capacity in the sector and unlocking its potential to produce and supply local stone products throughout the world.
